In Bulgaria, Olympiads are the normal path for students who excel in a subject. But for Victor, they quickly became more than just competitions. The rigors of competition prep fueled his interest in biology, and then chemistry. Through years of self-study, national contests, and international competitions, he found his way to organic chemistry, drawn to its balance of reasoning and knowledge, its real-world applications, and its intellectual richness.
